Did you know that mammoth ivory, is the oldest plastic material in the history of art ? And before you raise your admonishing finger, mammoth ivory is not subject to the Endangered Species Act and may be traded freely. However, there are not too many companies that have licenses to mine.
This outstanding hand carving of mammoth ivory on strands of freshwater pearls is a unique piece from the Different Materials Collection and features a cow elephant with her cub. This necklace is something really unusual and we hope it will end up with an art lover who will appreciate it.
